Quick answerPublic trusts in Malad, Borivali and Andheri are registered at the Greater Mumbai Public Trust Registration Office, Dharmadaya Ayukta Bhavan, Sasmira Building, Sasmira Road, Worli, Mumbai 400032. Our Malad West chambers can help with the filing and appear with you.

Not sure which office handles your area? Try the Charity Commissioner office finder.

If your trust is based in Malad, Borivali, Andheri or elsewhere in Mumbai, you may wonder whether you have to travel to a local office to register. This page sets out which Public Trust Registration Office handles Mumbai trusts, from the Charity Commissioner’s own office list. The application itself is made online, as explained in how to register a public trust, step by step.

The office for Mumbai

The Charity Commissioner’s office list shows the Greater Mumbai (Brihanmumbai) Public Trust Registration Office at Dharmadaya Ayukta Bhavan, Sasmira Building, Sasmira Road, Worli, Mumbai 400032 (first floor for the Greater Mumbai office; the Mumbai headquarters office is on the second floor of the same building).

  • Phone: 022-24976422, 022-24935434, 022-24930499, 022-24929568
  • Email (establishment branch): supdtest.gmr-mh@gov.in
  • Email (hospital branch): supdthosp.gmr-mh@gov.in
  • Email (accounts branch): supdtacct.gmr-mh@gov.in

The list shows one office for Mumbai and no separate suburban office. Malad, Borivali and Andheri fall under this Greater Mumbai office at Worli, so a trust with its office in these areas is registered there. Under section 18(2) of the Act the application goes to the officer of the region where the trust has its office or where its property is located, so if your trust’s office or property is in another district, the position can differ.

If your trust is outside Mumbai

Trusts in Thane district deal with the Thane office; see Charity Commissioner office, Thane: address and jurisdiction. The Palghar office is listed in the same directory.

What you will need to do in person

According to the Charity Commissioner’s guide, after you submit online the applicant, a representative or the advocate must appear within 30 days with all the original documents, which means a visit to the Worli office. The office and counter details are not part of the published guide, so check the portal and call ahead before you travel.

Adv. Tamanna Shaikh’s chambers at Malad West assist with trust registration filings and appearances at the Worli office. See trust registration assistance.
