Most festival permissions in Mumbai, from the BMC, the police and other authorities, take time, and some need other approvals first. This calendar lists the main festivals from November 2026 to November 2027, with a suggested date to start preparing and links to the guide for each.
How to read the “start preparing” date. It is our suggestion, counted back from the festival (about two months for pandals, six weeks for Navratri events, a month for licences, qurbani and Dahi Handi, and three weeks for processions and loudspeakers). It is not an official deadline. Each authority announces its own application window, so check the official notice as soon as it is published.
